Hello everyone,
I live in Arlington, VA, just outside Washington, DC.
I completed a bachelor’s degree in English from Regent University in December 2016. I am currently working on my seventh and eighth classes in a master’s program, also at Regent; I’m working towards an MA in Strategic Communication. I believe communication is critically important in everything; it doesn’t matter what job or vocation or livelihood we have, we have to know how to communicate effectively. So often, we humans misunderstand each other, and I want to learn as much as I can about the ways we communicate and the tools we use to do so. (Rats, I’ve resisted for so long, but I’m going to have to start using social media after all!)
I work full-time in international trade compliance at an aerospace and defense company. My current role involves a great deal of writing, so I am always looking for ways to improve that skill. The classes I’m taking now will provide opportunities to write in ways that are unfamiliar to me. I’m hoping that learning new techniques will help me see the writing I do for work in a new light.
My hobbies are reading, watching old movies, walking, infrequent biking, and taking advantage of one of my husband’s hobbies: eating his cooking.
My husband and I have three cats: two “penguins,” as we call them, and an HP (honorary penguin). The third kitty is black with about six white hairs under his chin, so the other two black-and-whites let him join in their “penguin” gang.
Luckily, my husband and I agree in many important areas: politics, religion, the weather. We both love snow and rain, and fortunately, we usually agree on what temperature the thermostat should be set on. When we don’t agree, I win. Ha ha. Just kidding. If he’s cold, he can always put a sweater on.
Below is a picture of my husband and me in our favorite weather. This was from a few years ago; I haven’t had a chance to enjoy the most recent snowfall!
I’ve included a deceptive picture of one of our cats, one of the “penguins,” Daisy. She is sitting quietly under the Christmas tree. Right. She’s conserving her energy so she can continue running circles around the tree, maybe climb into it just for a little additional exercise. She’s very health-conscious.
The third picture is my mom and me at one of her preschool graduation ceremonies. I am very blessed to live close to my parents, even though I don’t go see them as often as I should. Luckily we can always text!

My husband and I agree that snow is our favorite weather.

Daisy is playing the picture-perfect innocent cat, right before she unleashes destruction on the poor Christmas tree.
